Petrivka Metro station is home to two weekend markets. Each Saturday and Sunday the flea and book markets are open from around 10.00-16.00.
When you get to the station platform there will be a sign in English in the middle of the station pointing to the book market.
As you exit the station turn left. Immediately on the left there is the book market. The book market includes stationery, crafts, posters, music, videos and software. The market's section on the right, across the street, has more second-hand books, many old USSR art books in several languages.
You need to walk to the end of the book market in order to start the flea market.
The flea market has everything imaginable and the goods are reasonably priced. Like the book market, the flea market is a single road, but at the end it takes a short curve to the right. At this point you will also notice a break in the concrete fencing to the left. Walk through the gap to see something quite extraordinary.
The flea market continues along and on the opposite side of a working railway. These are the free pitches set up by non-traders. Good trains using the lines use their horns as they slowly travel past.
