He was the King of Gods and like Zeus and Thor he was linked to thunder and lightening. You can see in several places over Kyiv. In Bulgaria and Bosnia many mountain tops, associated with lightening strikes, are called or sound similar to Perun. An iris in the region is also called Perun's flower, as it was believed to only grow where lightening had struck.
